Model Provider
Penyedia Model
The company that serves a model to you. Usually someone else's server.
A model provider is the service that hosts and serves models. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and a dozen others sell access to the same underlying capability. Almost every product depends on a provider, and that dependency is worth thinking about deliberately.
Providers differ in more than price. They differ in what they are good at, how their tools behave, how they handle long context, what their safety filters refuse, and how fast they are in your region. Switching is rarely free, but it is rarely impossible.
The practical discipline is to keep provider-specific code in one thin layer. Everything above that layer should speak in your own terms, so a switch is a change in one place rather than a rewrite.
