A moving label, not a technology. It points at whatever computers have newly learned to do well.
"AI" does not name a fixed capability the way "model" or "token" does. It points at whatever computers can newly and impressively do: today mostly large language models, before that expert systems, before that pattern recognition. That is why AI debates so often talk past each other. A claim like "AI cannot reason" carries a hidden timestamp, and each side may be describing a completely different system. When a discussion about AI stalls, the fix is usually to swap the word for the precise part: the model, the harness, the agent, the context it was given.
