Golden Dataset
Dataset Emas
A fixed, reviewed set of real cases the system is measured against.
A golden dataset is a small, hand-checked set of real inputs with their expected outputs. It is the regression suite of an AI product: when a change breaks it, the change was bad.
The discipline is in what you leave out. Include the awkward real cases, not the clean demo ones: typos, mixed languages, missing information, contradictory instructions, and the question that has no good answer. A golden set of only easy cases passes while the product fails in production.
Keep it small enough to read. Fifty cases reviewed by a human every few weeks is worth more than a thousand cases nobody has looked at since the day they were written.
